What's new

July 1st is the “Lake Biwa Day”

Information

In Shiga Prefecture, the “Shiga Prefecture Ordinance on Prevention of Eutrophication of Lake Biwa”
(Lake Biwa Ordinance) was enacted on July 1st, 1980, to prevent the occurrence of freshwater red tides.
The following year, July 1st was designated as the Lake Biwa Day to commemorate the first anniversary
of the enforcement of the Lake Biwa Ordinance.

The “Lake Biwa Day” is not limited to environmental conservation of Lake Biwa, but also includes
“Biwa Activity Events” held in various areas of Shiga Prefecture until “World Lake Day” on August 27th.

This year, the National Sports and Para-Sports will be held in Shiga Prefecture. On July 4th (Friday),
our company will participate in the “Hospitality Cleanup” environmental beautification activity around
Moriyama City Sports Park near our Moriyama Plant, together with the prefecture’s residents,
businesses and organizations.
