We participated in the “After-School Experience Class” at Moriyama Elementary School, Moriyama City.
In an effort to eliminate an “experience gap” that occurs when children’s opportunities to
experience things outside of school vary depending on their family’s financial situation, a
social education specialist and the PTA teamed up to hold an “After-School Experience Class”
at Moriyama Elementary School, Moriyama City in Shiga Prefecture on Wednesday, February 4th.
The program included our company’s “Solar Crafts,” chalk art by Teru of Atelier Soramame,
and flower arranging by Washida of Washida Farm.
For the “Solar Crafts” class, we wanted the children to experience the joy of making things,
so they tried assembling Elekit’s “Mecha Hopper.” The “Mecha Hopper” is a solar-powered
grasshopper-shaped robot.
We received cooperation from Electronic Parts Shop Pulse and EK Japan Co., Ltd., the manufacturer
of Elekit, providing the kit, tools, and assembly materials.
In addition, volunteers from Shiga Prefecture’s Radio Wave Appropriate Use Promotion Committee
helped the children with the assembly, carefully providing guidance to help with any areas
where they were struggling.
All participants were able to complete their projects successfully, and we believe they were
able to experience the joy of making things.
